Jim Collins is the coauthor of Built to Last, a
classic business book notable for its
unconventional conclusions about what makes a

His new book, Good to Great: Why Some
Companies Make the Leap... and Others Don't,
examines how companies can transform
themselves from mediocrity to greatness.

Collins and a team of researchers first set up a
benchmark defining greatness. They then
compared 11 companies that had met this
benchmark to competitors that had failed to reach
it. The result is a powerfully persuasive book that

CURRENTLY READING
The Battle of Ideas
Dr. Klaus Lackner  does a wonderful job describing our environmental
problems.

“Before the industrial revolution the atmosphere had 280 parts per
million of carbon dioxide.  Today, the earths atmosphere has 370 parts
per million.  The difference is accounted to fossil fuels consumed over
the last 200 years.

The world is consuming 6 billion tons of carbon in the form of oil, coal,
and gas every year.  In return the world is emitting 22 billion tons of
carbon every year.  In perspective, the entire world of trees emits 600
billion tons of carbon.  In the course of a hundred years we are
emitting as much carbon as all the trees in the world.”

As we approached midway through the twentieth century only fossil
fuels controlled the majority of the world economies.  By imposing limits
on U.S. emission of fossil fuels, foreign powers would gain control of
our “Commanding Heights”.  These foreign powers could be able to
dictate our production levels and thereby controlling our economy.

It would be unreasonable to expect the Kyoto Protocol to solve global
warming.  In fact after fifteen years, the U.S. would have spent billions
of dollars and global warming would still be a problem.  Kyoto tries
limiting the symptoms of the problem.  The problem is that our
technology is incapable of stopping greenhouse emissions.  The
problem will be solved when technology can competitively build zero
emission power plants and vehicles.  The U.S. needs to invest their
money into solving the problem and not delaying the symptoms of the
problem.   The focus should be on innovation, research and
development, and new technology.
ECD Ovonics (Nasdaq: ENER) is based on the twin pillars of energy

Jewish/Christian minister, composer and author Zola Levitt, died after a

the unique perspective of a Jewish man who converted to Christianity. I
hope that his worthwhile lessons will continue to be aired. He also

Our Dangerous World
The Enemy From Within
Soon after 9/11, an FBI informant made an alarming claim: Osama
bin Laden's deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, had visited the town of Lodi,
Calif. in the late 1990s and attended a mosque there. Moreover, two
Pakistani imams preaching at the mosque came from a conservative
Islamic school, or madrassa, linked to the former Taliban regime in
Afghanistan. According to McGregor Scott, the U.S. Attorney who led
the federal anti-terror investigation, this was "an attempt by a group
of radical Islamic religious figures to come to this country and …
establish a madrassa to serve as a recruiting ground."

However, a deeper look at the evidence creates uncertainty about
what kind of threat actually did exist in Lodi and provides a case
study of America's response to the threat of domestic terrorism. In
"The Enemy Within," FRONTLINE and New York Times reporter
Lowell Bergman examines the Lodi case and interviews FBI and
Homeland Security officials to assess U.S. anti-terror efforts

THE U.S. MAY SOON WAGE WAR BY MOUSE, KEYBOARD AND
COMPUTER VIRUS. BUT IT IS VULNERABLE TO THE SAME
ATTACKS

In a secure vault in the U.S. Army's super-secret Intelligence and
Security Command in northern Virginia, Colonel Mike Tanksley
sketches the barest outlines of the new Armageddons. These are
only "What ifs?" he insists, so there cannot really be details. Yet his
war scenario resounds with almost biblical force. The next time a
tyrant out of some modern Babylon (Baghdad, Tehran or Tripoli, for
example) threatens an American ally (Riyadh, Cairo, Jerusalem) the
U.S. doesn't immediately send legions of soldiers or fleets of
warships. Instead Washington visits upon the offending tyranny a
series of thoroughly modern plagues, born of mice, video screens
and keyboards.

"The Power of a Dream is Giving Someone Hope".
The real life story of Rudy was an incredible example of having a vision and
setting goals to accomplish the vision.  Even though many people around
Rudy doubted his vision, they never doubted his passion and drive to
accomplish his goals.  This story is a testament to anyone seeking a dream.
Dreams come true if you set goals and have the passion to accomplish
them.

From being told he's not college material in high school to being accepted
into Notre Dame is a great story in itself.

Rudy's picture in the Notre Dame Football yearbook was right next to
freshman quarterback, Joe Montana.

It's the most incredible story I've ever heard.  Never give up on your dream!

$0.68 Per Share
ADSX and DOC completed a merger
on Jan.1st, 2008.  ADSX and DOC
were both worth about $25 million in
market capitalization.  This places the
stock at $50 million total market cap,
or $0.70 per share.  About 71 million
shares are outstanding. However, the
merger will make the company run
more efficient.  I expect the company to
be profitable within 3 to 5 quarters.

XM Satellite Radio (XMSR)
$11.46 Per Share
Poor leadership has placed XM's
financial statements in dispear.
Both XM and SIrius need each other to

monopoly concerns.
I expect Disney or Viacom to acquire
either XM or Sirius.

looks slow. (Jan. 7th, 2008)

ABX Air (ABXA)
$3.69 Per Share
Gas prices and low margins really
effect this stock.  When jet fuel drops
much lower, buy ABX Air.

Sirius Satellite Radio (SIRI)
$2.94 Per Share
Sirius Satellite Radio spends too
much cash and is finally reflecting in
the stock price.  Both XM and SIrius
need each other to dig themselves out
of their hole.  The merger may never
happen due to monopoly concerns.
I expect Disney or Viacom to acquire
either XM or Sirius.

Zion Oil (ZN)

I expect the price to drop below
