In the Summer of 1997 I worked at a local community college
mail room while taking marketing and management courses.
Within two months of employment, I was promoted to part-time
Docutech Operator, responsible for College print jobs on a
campus of 2,500 employees and over 20 thousand students.
The professional copier I worked on was a Xerox Docutech 135
series.
I proposed and helped initiate an on-line work request system
along with a status, billing and completion date. College
employees were then able to do everything from their office
and my superiors were able to monitor our service more
closely.
My proposal made my department more efficient and improved
our services.
Within 2 years the entire campus implemented an on-line
system. It started with an idea in the mail room and perhaps
changed the entire college system.
In the mid 90's I visioned a satellite radio service that could
reach from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific. I asked the
question, If satellites could transform television why couldn't it
transform radio?
In 1999 my question was answered when I witnessed a report
on CNBC about satellite radio. I quickly went on the Internet
and verified that two satellite companies were in the process
of implementing a satellite radio service.
Unfortunately XM Radio and Sirius Radio stock price were too
rich for a part-time college student.
When the bubble burst on Wall Street I was able to buy 2000
shares of XM Satellite Radio for $3 per share in January of
2003. Within 11 months I made a profit of $35,000 dollars and
was able to enroll into Northwood University full-time.
Graduating Near the Top of my Class
|
In the fall of 2005 I graduated at the top of my class at
Northwood University with a 3.7 average in business
management. One of my professors told me to consider a
masters degree. My professor felt I would make a great
business consultant. He noticed I had a great ability to solve
problems and strengthen weaknesses within organizations.
In 2006 I enrolled into the Gainey School of Business.
On November 2008 I graduated with an MBA and a 3.8 grade
point average. I was asked by the Dean of the Gainey School
of Business to participate in the schools advisory board until the
year 2010.
Profiting From Tracking Cattle
|
I bought 16,000 shares of eMerge Interactive when an
announcement came across the real-time PR-News-Wire, that
the company's cattle tracking service had been approved by
the USDA. I sold the stock the next day after 15 minutes from
the opening bell. The result was a $26,000 dollar profit within
45 minutes of open session.
